Italy 2012

Italia Spring Tour has been taking bike riders to Italy and France since 1997. Cyclists have come from all over the world including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong and England. Every year we try to make our tours that little bit better and we always offer great rides and unforgettable holiday for everyone.

For 2012 we are stepping that little bit further. From May to August we will be based in Italy which will allows us to ensure better service, efficiency and more variety in rides to cater for all levels of rider wanting to see Italy and France.

IST not only offers a great cycling itinerary, we also combine spectacular scenery with some of the best food and hospitality that Italy and France has to offer. We will cover action from the Giro d’Italia taking the best position to see the pros riders race in this great Grand Tour.

Our clients have made a lot of friends while touring in the past 14 years. We've also met some great cycling champions with names that include Francesco Moser, Gilberto Simoni, Claudio Chiappucci and the Gladiator, Andrea Tafi. Many of these champions have welcomed our riders to their house and introduced us to their family, sometimes even sharing a meal with us. This has been a very special and memorable element of our tours.

During July, IST will conduct tours to Central and Northern Italy. In Central Italy, we will focus our tours on the beauty of Umbria and Tuscany, crossing the Apennines to the Adriatic sea. Very much an ecological tour, we will be surrounded by nature all the way, riding through green countryside and national parks, past great lakes and rivers.

For the first time, IST will conduct a Culinary Tour, where the riding is not necessarily your priority. This tour will offer the finest hotels, food and wine of Tuscany and Umbria. Some of the great chefs will spoil your palate. This tour not to be missed!

Our Northern Italy tour will be covering the UNESCO world heritage Dolomites and the Great Lakes. You'll enjoy great climbs, great views and great passes including Val Gardena, Pordoi, Sella, Fedaia, Giau, Manghen and to the west of the Dolomites, Mortirolo, Gavia and the King of the climbs, Stelvio. There is lot more climbing but don’t be worried, we don’t do them all at once!

During this tour, we may also have the opportunity to ride with Simoni, Moser or Chiappucci. They are nearly always happy to meet my cyclists if they have time.

In July, we will cover the most important stages of the Tour de France from the Alps to the Pyrenees and watch Australia's Cadel Evans defend the Champion jersey. Often, we will ride the course on the day before and the following day, take the best viewing positions to watch the pros race past.

We are all about passion and cycling. You bring your bike and Italia Spring Tour will take care of the rest.

The Italia Spring Tour is an independently organised event and is not run in conjunction with any other tours.
